Location & land status

The site sits on 10 leased acres off the Mombasa–Kitui road. The parcel is currently being fenced, and Community Land Act consent for the parcel is being progressed in parallel rather than treated as a later formality. An ore crusher is already on site, and ore purchasing from licensed artisanal-mining cooperatives is already underway — commercial aggregation activity has started even though the beneficiation plant itself has not been built.

Resource status

An independent geological survey is in progress, with a full report expected end of September 2026. Until that report lands, this is not a completed resource or reserve estimate — current data is point-sample assay results, cited below by method and source, blended to a commercial basis for pricing purposes rather than presented as a single discovered grade.

Independent corroboration: a 2026 academic study of the adjacent Kwa Mutonga–Vonza area (Kitonga, Kariuki, Kerandi & Limo, East African Journal of Environment and Natural Resources, vol. 9(3)) documents the same oxide, sulfur-poor copper mineralisation, structurally controlled within the Neoproterozoic Mozambique Belt — a second, independent line of evidence pointing the same direction as INFO MEMA’s own assays.

Process route

Negligible sulfur across every sample favours a leach–solvent-extraction–electrowinning (SX-EW) route direct to LME Grade-A cathode, without a smelting step. See the full process on the Beneficiation & Processing page.

Community investment

Purchasing from licensed artisanal-mining cooperatives, rather than displacing them, is the project’s starting principle: it formalises informal ore production into a documented, traceable supply chain, and it is the mechanism by which value from Kitui’s copper starts staying closer to where it was mined.
